Thank you for your interest in planting in partnership with the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention. The desire of SBTC churches is to deploy planters who are as well prepared as possible. To that end, every potential planter interested in planting with the SBTC must complete an application process. Read more.

Thank you for your interest in planting a new church in partnership with the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention. As you know, things have radically changed in Texas over the last few decades, and the experts all tell us we have just begun to change. Our population is growing much faster than the national rate. There is an ever-increasing diversity in race, language, and cultural lifestyles. The percentage of lost people keeps increasing. By any measure, baptisms have not kept up with population growth, particularly in fast-growing ethnic groups.
One of the visionary responses to this great challenge is to plant new churches across Texas to reach all kinds of people. Why new churches? It has been shown time and again that new churches are one of our best evangelistic tools. We must also recognize the fact that “one size fits all” does not hold true for methods and styles of doing church. We need to plant new churches to reach every ethnic, language, social, economic, and cultural group in Texas. In every case, the SBTC is committed to planting new churches that grow by conversion, not by transfer. With that end in mind, certainly God will bless.
In our effort to carry out the vision of church planting, the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention is committed to effective and fruitful church planter selection and development. This means that all potential planters who desire to partner with the SBTC must participate in a process designed to prepare the planter for the challenging task of church planting. That process is broken down into phases and includes a Pre-application/Pre-assessment, a Full Application, an Assessment, and a Training element, among other steps. Please go to Phase 1 and fill out the Pre-application/Pre-assessment first. Do not continue with the other phases until you have been contacted by an SBTC church planting team member.
