Dr. Jim Wolfe

  Dr. Jim Wolfe, Director

Jim Wolfe has a number of years of experience in staff positions and bi-vocational ministry. He came to the SBTC in July of 2000, from the pastorate of Brookstown Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dr. Wolfe pastored there for 10 years, faithfully leading the church in a transitional community. Dr. Wolfe says of his conversion, "I was seeking to fill an emptiness and void in my life, and I came to know Jesus during an observance of the Lord's Supper. Some seven years later, while serving as an interim music minister, I accepted God's call on my life for ministry."

Among other types of ministries, Jim has received training in CWT, FAITH, Sunday School for the New Century, The Transitional Pastor, and he is a LifeWay Ministry Multiplier.  He has conducted workshops, seminars and retreats which include: Evangelism in Sunday School, One-Day Soul Winning Workshop, Teaching The Jesus Way, The Kingdom Focused Church, Deacon’s Retreats, Church Leadership Workshops, Winter Bible Studies, and Training Pulpit Search Committees.  He is also available for pulpit supply and interim pastorate.

Educational pursuits include a BS in Business Administration from Northeast State University in Oklahoma, an MRE from Luther Rice Seminary and a DMin from Bethany Theological Seminary.

Jim Wolfe has served the denomination in the Association as Church Training Director, Music and Youth Director. He was elected as secretary \ treasurer of the Louisiana Baptist Pastor's Conference. He was serving on the Executive Board of the Louisiana Baptist Convention when called to Texas. Jim served on the Credentials Committee of the SBC. He and his wife, married in 1975, Kathy, have raised five sons. All of them have families of their own.

 

Ken Lasater

 

  Ken Lasater, Associate

Ken Lasater is one of the ministry associates of the Church Ministries Department at the SBTC, and as such, wears several hats of service in support of the ongoing ministries of churches. 

His role as servant to convention churches is influenced by the variety of ministry assignments held during 26 years of service to local churches from 1977 to 2002.  Although youth and music ministries equally were key portions in his ministry, other combination church-staff assignments included senior adults, single adults, recreation and education. 

His responsibilities with the SBTC include worship and music education, youth education and youth ministry leadership training, senior adult ministries, using creative arts for worship and missions and shared responsibilities with a number of other events and areas.

He and Carla have been married since 1979 and have one son, Caleb.  Carla is a public school educator.

 

Kenneth Priest

  Kenneth Priest, Associate

Kenneth Priest graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with degrees in Education and Theology.  He is currently serving as an Associate at the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention in the Church Ministries Department.  In this role he hopes to impact churches to fulfill the Great Commission in ministry areas such as education, discipleship, church growth, and leadership.  He has ministered in churches in Texas and the Southeast focusing on evangelism and discipleship with a creative emphasis on connecting established churches with tools to equip believers and facilitate evangelistic growth.  He is married to his wife Debbi and they live in Irving, Texas.

Lance Crowell

  Lance Crowell, Associate
Lance Crowell serves the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention as an Associate in the Church Ministries Department.  His areas of specialty include Collegiate, Single Adults, Young Married, Men's, and Family ministries.

Lance accepted God’s call to the ministry while studying engineering at the University of Houston.  He served at Sagemont Church in Houston for seven years as Collegiate Minister.

Lance says of his ministry philosophy, “My goal is to help build up and develop collegiate, single adult, and Men's ministry within the local church. This generation is leading and shaping the church for today and tomorrow. We must be about the business of connecting them and raising them up to lead the church toward God-centeredness for the generations to come.”  

Lance is a graduate of the University of Houston with a BS in Engineering as well as a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. He is also a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity. Lance is married to Mandy and has a beautiful son and a precious daughter.
