Greetings!

It is my distinct honor to serve the churches of the Southern Baptist Convention's newest stateconvention partner. The Southern Baptists of Texas Convention began in 1998 with about 120 churches and a vision to join together in fellowship to reach our state with the gospel of Christ. Since that time, we have grown and seen that vision become an ever-expanding reality.

Our convention lifts high the priority of missions and evangelism by the way we budget the funds entrusted to us and in the way we allocate our staff. The largest portion of our budget is given to missions and evangelism. Our largest number of ministry personnel is also focused on this priority work. We keep our overall staff numbers small in order to accomplish this. We also use the resources of volunteers, consultants, and national agency staff members to serve the needs of our churches without building a cumbersome, expensive bureaucracy.

We also address the Great Commission through our partnership with the Southern Baptist Convention. Fifty-one percent of all undesignated financial gifts is passed on to the SBC budget. No other state convention gives a percentage this high to missions beyond the state. We support the thousands of missionaries serving Southern Baptists around the world as well as the thousands preparing in our six national seminaries to fill vital ministry needs in Texas, across the nation, and around the world.
